Environmental Clearance
Responsible Care (RC) is a global voluntary initiative by and for the chemical industry which calls upon companies to demonstrate commitment to the highest standards of health, safety and environmental (HSE) performance. Responsible Care certification was initiated in 1984 and today, it has been adopted by 60 national and regional associations in more than 60 economies around the world. In India, Indian Chemical Council (ICC), a member of International Council of Chemical Associations (ICCA), spearheads the initiative and promotes Responsible Care among its member companies. Responsible Care certification is a way of standardizing, monitoring and measuring the HSE performance of a chemical company. In India, ICC provides the necessary guidance to companies in being able to adopt Responsible Care and monitors its implementation as well.
Covestro India had signed up the global charter in March 2015 to become a Responsible Care member company. In September 2019, Covestro India’s HSE performance was audited by ICC based on the six codes of management and guiding principles as laid down in the RC framework. Covestro India Private Limited has, thus, been re-certified as a Responsible Care company by Indian Chemical Council in 2019.
In compliance with the RC codes and principles and driven by its commitment to the highest standards of safety and sustainability, Covestro applies these principles even to third parties such as suppliers, contractors and transporters. Adherence to its stringent policies and regulatory requirements is mandatory for all its employees across its offices and manufacturing sites. The company subjects its plants and processes to continuous review and upgrades its facilities with state-of-the-art technology.
